Google Yourself...

I know how this sounds, but I have been trying to get some information on my family's history for a long time & haven't been able to get much. My father, aunts & uncles claim not to remember anything from childhood or any family, we don't have very much a far as documentation, and pictures? You can forget about that...

I do have some immigration documents of when my grand parents & their parents came here, but thats about it...and because the spellings of so many surnames where changed at Ellis Island (even to the slightest degree) it has made it impossible to look up any info. So basically I know where my family is from in Sicily, I know names & I have a hand full of photos, everything else is a mystery.

Then, this past Saturday, I was searching for something on line & out of no where I Googled my last name. When I got a few hits, I was surprised because I don't have a common last name, in fact the only people with it are related to me. Any way, I found somebody's Family Tree (titled with a different last name than mine) & some of my family members are listed on it!!!!!!!

I couldn't believe it! Anyway, I sent an email to the person who created it & we've begun to communicate. He's overseas right now & lives across the country from me, but it turns out that his grandmother is/was my grandmother's sister...so, I guess that makes him my like 2nd cousin or something??

Any way, I think this is very very cool...and anybody who is looking for any info should try it...

Bog People...

This is...The Tollund Man
He is, by far- the coolest of the Bog People...the most well preserved body from the Pre-Historic Iron Age, about 2400 years ago (he wasn't on display at The Natural HIstory Museum, L.A.), but they did have a pretty cool exhibit going on. Of course the procrastinator in me waited until today to see it (it was the last day), it's only been there since like March or something...

The Mysterious Bog People:
Maybe alittle too much of a History lesson for me, but all in all...very cool. It was dark & eerie and there was this somewhat lound sound coming from the display of this bronze age horn that they would play while you were on your way to sacrifice yourself to the gods, or be murdered & thrown in the bog only to be rediscovered in the 20th century...pretty cool if you ask me...

Olvera Street

I went down to Olvera Street the other day without a camera, making it impossible for me to share my experience...however, I did see a lot of Frida & Diego prints, t-shirts, etc there...thus the hommage to Ms. Kahlo...

I did not know that Olvera Street was the beginning of L.A., the Man Dawg, just took me there to get some bomb ass Mexican cuisine (which we did)...I had the best Mexican food in life there...

I didn't expect it to be quite so touristy, but it was fun...all of the old buildings and merchants lining the streets & down the center of the street...there was this one dude blowing glass, that was really cool...
